More HICAS trouble

My HICAS light comes on occasionally, and goes out when I top up the level. However I do have a leak somewhere in the system as I have to top it up nearly every month.

Most of the time it is fine, but every now and then I will pull up at traffic lights to find smoke billowing out from under the car! At first I thought it was a buggered transmission, but I'm sure its from the power steering system as the auto box fluid level never changes, only the P/S.

I have checked all around the P/S resevoir but can find no leaks, but it must be leaking somewhere near the exhaust because of all the smoke.

As I say, this only happens occasionally (usually after I've been thrashing it).

Any idea what the most likely component is that's at fault, or where to start looking?

Cheers

Neil

Ive got the same problem except i have to top mine up every day, jeff had a look at it and he thinks it might be the high pressure hose from the pump to the rack. Might be worth a look i think its at the bottom!!

Hmm - if you find out what pipe it is... let me know - I've had the same thing a couple of times, but assumed it was the A/T oil (which doesn't really drop, but then it doesn't need much oil to make a lot of smoke)..
