Tentatively looking, again

Hi there

Was on here about a year ago looking - ended up buying an R33 - scratched that itch, now back here...amongst other places ;)

I am open to the following:

NA or TT

Targa Top only

Avoiding series 1s

Import or UK is fine

Manuals only please

SWB or LWB

Not silver

In terms of budget, not looking to go crazy (for instance Vipers purple was out of reach of what I am looking to pay).

Cheers

Col

Thanks Gary, already been in touch with the guy (as its only 30 mins away) and checked the MoT history, no MoTs logged with the system except for its current one and one failed one in December 2013 where it had a huge list of issues some classified as *DANGEROUS* - is there any reason why there would be no MoT history on a car, I have bought an import before and it had logged MoT history...

The seller says it was imported in 2004, so it would have been off the road between then and mid 2014. I use the directgov MoT check site (it links to the DVLA mot database and holds all records back to 2006 - always use it before buying a car) to check on the MoT history as it lists fails and you can see what issues there were and then can ask for receipts of parts/work done. Would be surprised if it has an mot history on paper thats not recorded on here...but will check. It must have been used since import as it has a high mile count on it...

The pics seem to show some bubbling on the sills/rear arches...might go for a nose anyway as might be driving around that area at some point tomorrow.

Yeah will do cheers, I never buy on first look so will just be a nose and will check the sills and arches.

I am thinking actually a nice NA might be a better bet, I don't want to be dealing with failing turbo's etc.

Bit of an ask, but any NA owners near me who wouldn't mind showing me around their car maybe taking me for a drive? Just get some good advice from an owner on these...I am in TW10 Richmond Surrey and of course happy to drive out to you armed with some beers for your time!

My word, I never knew you could do that, thanks for the info and have some rep.

I just did a search of my Z so I now have a great record of my annual mileage. Although the tester recorded the mileage wrong for a couple of years, before I installed a UK MPH cluster (clocked to show the correct converted mileage), as he recorded them as miles instead of kilometres. It then plummets 10's of thousands of miles the year of my conversion and has been steadily climbing since!

Yeah I only discovered the site a couple of years back, amazing it isn't better advertised/well known. The import thing is a bit of an issue as sometimes the tester will record it as KM or M but you can generally work out what is going on.

Looks like I might be getting a nice bonus in March, so looking to up the budget to circa £4k. If you have a TT going let me know.

Really think I want a Targa Top, as much as I like the look of the slick tops I will be kicking myself on those sunny days...I just know it!

In fairness to him:

The car snapped its belt but has been repaired to a high standard by JMImports of cramlington.

Its had a new passenger side head with new headgaskets, headbolts.

I just blinked................and when I looked back again I noticed 280zx/300zx/Z31 are going mental price-wise. There are 4 on Ebay from about £4k to £12k............I used to think they were chintzy hairdresser-mobiles. Everything comes back into fashion at some point!! Good luck with your search

Well there isnt any problems you bell end, its been fixed! New headgaskets, new timing belt kit, new headstuds, new waterpump, oil and filter, egr delete.

What does it matter what i paid for it?

If you got a bargain of any sort and you came to sell would you sell for the same or less than what you paid? Didnt think so.

So no mate im not having a laugh

And by the way i didnt pay 3k ;) just saying

Really? Calling another member a bell end? Yeah that's going to endear you to everyone.

In my humble opinion - either sign up and sell the car, or stop talking about it before you end up with a ban.

Rules are quite clear.

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

Im merely defending my position. Im clearly not having a laugh as the other 'member' states.

And if that ends me up getting a ban then go for it, pathetic.

Ive had an inbox off an admin not to try and sell until im signed up.

Seven day ban issued. Trying to sell as a registered member is one thing but I wont allow any of our members to be talked to in an offensive way.:nono:

Don't worry guys, water off a ducks back and all that, I do not sink to the depths of name calling - maybe I shouldn't have been so abrupt in my response.

Yeah I looked at that silver one a few times Gary, probably a little bit high in price for me would only pay that sort of money if it was exactly what I wanted and I am not a fan of silver paintwork (although I have seen the odd car that it really suits).
