My car is making a ticking noise after been sitting up since its last trackday

probably 8 weeks, i started it up this evening and noticed the noise i didnt drive the car just let it warm up on idle

What would be my best bet to fix this?

Fluss the engine and change the oil?

Drive it and see if it frees them up?

Is it doing damage?

I have had this a few times after car not used for a few weeks it needs a good run as in drive once the oil gets pump round the ticking will go happened to me 3 times now

Mine does this if it's sat for a while. Most will do in fairness as the oil drains out of the tappets and is replaced by air. As long as it is just a sticky lifter or two and nothing else, all I normally do is take it for a drive. You can also try increasing the revs slowly to around 3000rpm a few times whilst idling and see if they quieten down.

If the oil is old, change it first of course. Make sure it's the correct grade as well.

Ah not to bad so il be doing an oil change before the next day out anyways

do u reckon i should go with a higher grade oil 10w 50 maybe as its only used for track use

My car has been ticking on startup for years this has not been a problem for me yet gets quiet when warm, getting plenum off to change them is a real pain.
