Check the fluid level (green pot on top of drivers side wing)

After that it sounds like your steering wheel might not be on straight - if the sensors detect a "turn" that's lasting too long then it knows something is wrong and shuts the system down.

Can be caused by garages not adjusting the tracking in the recommended way.

Hi,

I've been having the same problem too Topped up the fluid levels the sensor is quite sensitive in mine, maybe yours too, it has been fine since:)

Also since I got my tracking done properly (2nd time lucky my steering is better too, my hicas light was always bloody on after the first tracking (steering wheel wasn't straight)

thanx,

you are right the steering wheel isn`t straight. Do i need to track it up to get the steering wheel straight, or can i alter the steering wheel? I assume i need to track it.

I`ve not had the z long, got a couple of probs with it.

Still wot a mota. :D

cheers

I presume all you need to do is take it to a tracking place and tell them they need to re-track it to get the steering wheel straight.

There are sensors in the hub behind the steering wheel which sense how much you are turning and the HICAS works out from speed etc how much/when to turn the rear wheels.

Someone has just been lazy on your car and tracked the wheels but not bothered to adjust from both sides to make the steering wheel straight.

Not a problem on normal cars but still annoying!

My Hicas warning light stays on for about 5 mins after I've started the engine, then goes off.I've checked the level but that seems OK?

The problem is always worse when the car is cold.

As the fluid warms up it expands and the light goes off.

I'm pretty sure you just need a bit more fluid in there.

Ours had that problem, the level looks fine, but it took another 2 cupfuls of fluid. Its been spot on ever since. But as to the origonalnproblem that sounds like the steering problem.

Thanks chaps,

Put more fluid in,and guess what, the Hicas light went out!!

Cheers,

F.T.
