Come on then, tell me I've paid too much for some CASTROL RS 10w60 from my local car spares shop........

£48.00 for 5 litres.

Did I only need 4 litres? and if you're changing oil every 6 months, have you gotta replace oil filter aswell? or do that every 12?

Featured Replies

You paid too much for that oil (well, you did ask....) Seriously though, it doesn't sound TOO much of a rip-off for 5L. I usually buy Mobil 1 10w50 and 4L of that is about £30 in Halfords (with free dodgy CD - I've got almost as many of those as I have of AOL CD's!).

The Z uses LESS than 4L on an oil change, but it's nice to have some left over in case you need to top up.

Always replace your filter, it's less than a tenner so why chance there being a build-up of crap in there?

Doesnt the manual take more oil than an anto. I have to buy more than 4 litres of it at a time cos it takes more than 4 litres.

Ah, good point. Mine's an auto so 4L is plenty but I don't know about manuals. Guess I'd better shut up and stop posting on the techie page!

Still think I'm right about the filter though............

Err, excuse me, different capacities for Auto and Manual? New one on me.

The book says: with oil filter 3.4ltr, without 3.0ltr.

But that doesn't sound right, I thought it was nearer 4ltrs, but it's what the Service manual says.

Oh and change the filter every time, I get genuine OE ones from my local factors for about £4 so no excuse!

Yeah-def right about the filter, forgot they were that cheap. Mine is an auto so 5 litres will give me some for top-up. Any idea how much the auto takes exactly?

Ok, post above came thru at the same time as I was replying. Think it was just under 4L last change if I remember rightly.

3.4l with filter, 3.0 without - it's in the manual - it'sofficial.

Oh well , over a litre too much. Maybe a post in FOR SALE & WANTED section................ 1.6 of a litre of CASTROL RS, make me an offfer. (joke!)

If only I used Castrol.......... I could ask you to stick it in an envelope and post it to me!:D

Good luck with the oil change! (all 3.4L of it)

"POST" it to you? you're behind the times aren't you? I'd e-mail it to you.

Don't get me started on our fkin rip off price of fuel!

we own BP don't we?

This ****ry (oops-spelt it wrong) is a stitch. Other countries seem to look after themselves, ours seems to see how much it can get out of us!

it continually pulls our pants down and I'm sick of it.......... and it keeps raining!
