de cat front pipes

Hi all..well ive got some de cat front pipes and wondering what the score is regarding fitting these to the z.Does it make the mot invalid?.Are they legal to use on road?.Do you get any power increase?.Any noise increase?

If your car is an import it isn't on the MOT database and as such is subject to pre-cat emissions test.

A good running Zed will pass this test (less than 3.5% co2) with decats.

Legality is a grey area but never had issues.

Noise wise - pain in the arse imo. My car had them fitted for a whole 4 hours that I owned the car. The drone was horrendous and gave me a migraine. I prefer HFC's

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

Decats legalities depends on the year of your car, both my zeds have been decatted as they were 1990 which means they are not needed for the mot. Can't remember exactly what year you don't have to have them till, think it may be 93/94, if I'm wrong then someone will tell you.

You should get a very small power increase but it won't be noticeable, it just allows the exhaust gases out quicker.

Not to sure on noise increase but I personally wouldn't have thought so.

cheers tomo..mines a 1990 jdm, still got to fit the spolier i bought off you about a year ago, ironically i was sizeing it up earlier..haha

You won't have any legal issues fitting them on your Zed then mate, if you do fit and fine the exhaust note too much then its a quick easy job to remove again.

I did love that spoiler on my old silver Zed, I know a lot of people don't like them but who cares! Get it fitted before I buy yet another Zed and ask to buy it back again :)

HFC is High Flow Cat. Otherwise known as sports cats.

Not sure there are any off the shelf for Z32. You'd probably need custom.

For record it's post July 95 UK cars that require cats (as the emissions test is different)

Must admit i love the low throbbing sound of the exhaust at mo.it sounds a lot better than a lot of cars ive heard.ive got megaphone rear silencers, was looking at getting a little more poke and quicker spool up speed, hmmm food for thought.

haha yes i like the look of that rear spoiler,i like the look of the scarab front spoiler as well.its putting your own stamp on car to an extent

I wonder is lexs car is a na that would be load with no cats. the tt with no cats isn't that load tall

Yeah an NA with decats is louder than a TT as the Turbos take out a lot of the noise before it reaches the exhaust.

Yeah Lexx's car is NA hence the noise. I have decats and mines not that bad at all, essentially I've got a pair of 2.5" pipes from the turbo back and a back box.
