I've discovered that I've got one of these on my car(cone type).

Are they supposed to be cleaned or replaced when they are dirty,

and if cleaned is it an easy job and what do I use?

Cheers,

F.T.

Are you sure its a K&N? Does it say on it? If it is they need to be cleaned with an oil.

Others can be rinsed out but make sure you dry it fully

Yes definately K&N,I managed to manouver my mini-maglight and get a look through the front grille.

Can the oil be bought easily(halfords etc.)?

F.T.

K&N have a special cleaning stuff and oil, it's probably available from anywhere that sells the filters.

Halfords sell the K&N stuff.

You get a bottle of cleaning solution and a can of spray oil I think.

If it is beyond cleaning then you can buy a new filter but it is nearly as expensive as buying the whole lot again.

You should tell your insurer too - for an "induction kit" they ususally want a bung of £40 - £60.

Demon Tweeks do a complete K&N cleaning kit and do mail order.

Thanks everyone,

I've just been to Halfords and bought a K&N cleaning kit for £9.99,not too bad.

Is the cone on the induction kit easy to get to and to remove?

The reason I'm asking is that I have limited tools and not very mechanicaly minded, but will have a go!!

Cheers,

F.T.

Yep, dead easy. Remove the centre panel and the filter probably comes off with one 8 or 10mm bolt. I'm pretty certain there are instructions linked from my site.

Cheers Andy,

What an excellent site, even I might be able to do a few things with all those instructions and piccies!

Thanks again
