Hi guys

Just thought i,d say hello as i,ve only just joined this forum.

I havn,t messed with cars for over 20 years now but recently a mate of mine has slowly and steadily got me back into them. His constant chatter about his Nissan Skyline and how it performs and what he wants me to do to it, i used to own an industrial glassfibre company and have repaired and customized a good few cars in my time and now he wants me to build a one off body kit, has got me more and more interested in all things petrol again.

We bought a cheap Uk spec, manual 300zx twin turbo 2+2 with the intentions of either re-furbing or kitting it out, as an investment, but i,ve kinda fallen in love her. So now i,ve bought his share and am looking too put her back on the road over the next month and drive her for the rest of the summer and then decide on what i will be doing with her.

I,m going to be replacing the water pump as it seems to of broken, and at the same time i plan on changing the timing belt and tensioners etc.

Is there anything that i should be aware of before undertaking these jobs?????????

Cheers Lads

Check condition of bodywork for rust and/or poor repairs. Sills, in particular the sill area (inner and outer) in front of the rear

wheels. Wheel arches. Signs of body filler or patching and/or recent resprays to hide poorly repaired rust damage. UK cars

are protected to the same degree as imports by the factory for corrosion resistance but generally have had the most

exposure to salting in the winter.

We have a number of Zeds on here that were bought cheap and have been found to require extensive repairs due to rust

damage and have then been beyond the capabilities and/or funds to repair, so have been scrapped and broken up. Would

be wise to check before spending money on servicing jobs. Having said that it would be great to see another UK spec car

saved.
