looking for help on this as i can't find the leak, after rain i have a water inside the tailgate, only notice it when i lift the tail gate and it leaks out from under the palstic trims inside the lid, i have replaced the rubber gromit around the rear wiper, spoiler is a fibre glass version of the stock unit but looks like it's sealed all round, it it likely the rear screen could be leaking?

no it's inside tailgate itself really strange one, only notice it after rain and i lift the tailgate then it pours out from the trim at the side of the rear window

I would recommend you remove the trim and check for rust on the boot lid. It may be getting around the third brake light hole..

hmm good tips, i have changed the rubber grommet around the rear wiper last year, i'll check around the brake light but i have a fibreglass stock style rear spoiler fitted

Check the bottom corners of the tailgate glass, where the water lays after it's rained, I had the same problem so I ran some silicone around there and it stopped.

i think i found the cause of this leak the glue bonding the rear spoiler let go, on the passenger side roughly half the spoiler came unstuck with very little pressure so re bonded that with tiger seal, prob put to much on but never to much i say, and on the drivers side the bead of seal around the edge of the spoiler had deteriorated in place letting water behind the spoiler, although it is firmly attached i ran a bead of seal across washed the car and so far no water ingress

Just noticed a very similar leak on mine today, minor one. I don't think it's coming from the spoiler but the wiper is a possibility. Which spoiler do you have?

Rust spot for reference:

I've yet to have a thorough look but I don't think there's any signs elsewhere.

Thing with water is it travels and gets in through the smallest of gaps. Just got to be methodical. I had a leak for years that travelled into the sills and the well. Was due to it having had a small smack in the rear corner with the previous owner and a seam had cracked on the lights housing along with one in the petrol filler. Drove me nuts
