I would like some information on what valid entries you have on your V5. I am interested in the following 2 fields, and I have shown what I have on my V5:

-Make: NISSAN;

-Model/Type: 2-AXLE-RIGID BODY COUPE

I am in contact with DVLA and they have kindly offered to change this to something appropriate, but do not have 300ZX as a keyword on their database - the suggestion was that the car perhaps was not sold in the UK. So I am particularly interested in knowing what you original UK spec owners have on your V5 - please can you help and let me know these 2 fields and confirming that your car is the UK model?

Thanks, Geoff

I asked this question earlier this year so you probably won't get too many people rushing to repost. So here's the original post and what they said along with a few collated tables etc.

Gio,

Thanks for the feedback. I was aware of this information but could not put my finger on the Model/Type value that DVLA use - can you confirm what this is?

Is it "300 ZX TURBO SPORTS" as Andrew has kindly posted?

Thanks, Geoff

Im at work at the moment but I am sure that mine just sayd 300ZX Coupé

The short answer is that no, I am not aware of what they use. A slightly longer answer is that neither are they!

Reason being that for any new UK car of any make, the dealer has a computer link directly to the DVLA so when a new car is registered for the first time, the dealer simply selects from the list that the system offers him.

OTOH, if you are registering an import, this is done manually at the local DVLA offices. They can either select from a paper list (and the 300ZX at the top of the list is the earliest one i.e. the Z31 which explains why the DVLA figures are simply, wrong for how many Z32s there are).

Or they type in whatever has been filled in on the paper work - so one might have 300 ZX TURBO SPORTS and another 300ZX TURBO SPORTS. Mine, eg, is

Make: NISSAN

Model/Type: 300 ZX 2+2 COUPE

It would be interesting to hear from other UK models to see if they have exactly what AndrewG has or whether there is still more uncovered in this can of worms (mixing metaphors too badly so please don't tell Mike or Ajay).

Is there a particular reason you are asking?

Sorry to bring this back to the top, but are there any other UK spec owners who could let me know what they have on their V5 in the Model/Type field?

Thanks for your help, Geoff

i need the description for my jap spec car?

Anyone tell me what is on the form?

Thanks

Barry

I have owned two Zeds the first was a 1989 F reg one of the first (well the 196th to be exact) and the desciptin was "2 axlerigid body coupe and my insurance was £690 a year.

When i broke that ine and got the new one which is a 1991`said on the V5 says "300 zx 2+2 turbo coupe" when i changed the insurance over instead of being £690 it rose to £800

Answer, in my opinion, is that DVLA will make the car look older rather than newer, thus some of the early ones have been mistakenly registered as Z31's and NOT Z32's.

P.S After looking at my log book have now realised ive got to send it off agin s it states the engine size as 29998cc, either that or find out where my other 27 litres of engine are!!
