For all you guys that have added extra bodywork to your 300's, via body kits which ones are any good? Are there any to be avoided in terms of wuality, ease of fitment?? Have had a scan thru all the usual sites and particular styling is down to individual taste but I dont wanna lash out hard earned on something I could have knocked together in my lunch hour!!!

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

Dont get what Mac 1 got then its nasty! Plastic fantastic!!

The Veilside stuff is nice. Try the link to Luke at the Z Centre as I know he sells the kits. (mine came with the car when I bought it:D )

Make sure the front & rear bumpers are made of Poly Urethane, otherwise if it's glass fibre it will have no give a crack very easily.

Have been saying that for years:D

I'll back that up aswell. NO to fibreglass front ends!!! ;)

Two weeks after mine came out of the bodyshop I somehow managed to inherit a large chip out of my lefthand wings west sideskirt! Was not impressed but at least it's underneath so you can hardly see it. But goes to show you how crap fibreglass is when you attach it to a car.

I've also got a 71 Reliant Scimitar GTE 3l and its all fibregass! The fact that its still around tells you something so I guess its not the material - if its used right.

But if lowered and susceptible to kerb contacts polyurethane must be the way to go.

Please dont get a body kit that makes it look like a kit car tho.

That's only because the scimitar has a much higher front end than a Z. Fiberglass is fiberglass IMHO It is very weak and total shite!

I personally like the '99 front bumpers.

Paul C, were you going to try and sort out a group buy ?

I know you mentioned it at te last meeting, but I wasn't sure if you were serious or not :(.

Just out of interest, who would be interested in a '99 front bumper for their Zed ?

Stuart

My brothers Micra has fiberlass front bumper (grounded on a curb) and fiberglass sideskirts (cracking under vibrations) so sh1te!!!!!!!!!!

Is carbon fibre fragile like fibre glass ?

What is Carbon Fibre?

Carbon fibre is made of one of life's base elements - carbon. Carbon fibres are fine filaments, made up of elemental carbon. Fibre types range from amorphous carbon to crystalline graphite.

The main features of carbon fibre as a material for design and manufacture are:-

1. Incredibly high tensile strength, approximately 15 times the strength of construction steel.

2. High rigidity, up to 3 times the stiffness of steel.

These two features mean that carbon fibre is a great material for making high performance products. It is also a great material for design. The high strength to weight ratio, in combination with high rigidity, offers superior design freedom.

This has led to carbon fibre being used in a diverse range of products, from yachting to high performance motor vehicles, to sporting goods.

Working with carbon fibre is a real challenge for the designer. The material is complex, with movable fibre orientation, and it's performance parameters are not yet well understood in the general design community.

As designers begin to understand carbon fibre, as material costs fall, and as more efficient process technologies are developed, carbon fibre will become a major material used to produce a wide variety of products.

I take it that the 99's come with a flake !

That's the one I'll be going for..
