hi guys, was hoping someone could help me with my zed. I have purchase a twinturbo recently ..

unfortunately at idle an low revs the car has a slight missfire , I believe it is the front left as it makes no difference to the running when its unplugged.

I have checked an cleaned all wires and spark plug seems ok (maybe even abit dry) I switched the coilpack over but the fault stayed on same cylinder.

the car pulls on all 6 when I plant my foot an is faster than ever tt zed I have previously driven ;)

this led me to the injector area, again I cleaned all the wires etc and made no difference an it seemed to be ticking like all the others with the ear on a skrewdriver method ;)

amy help would be much appreciated ;) I am limted in my mechanical skills so please try an speak to me like a 2 year old ha ha

Sniff my diff

You sound like you know what you're doing mate, mine stumbled like hell when I got it due to leaky dump valves, it runs a lot better without them due to the MAF set up.

Have you done a compression test?

ha ha .. to be honest mate iv been around cars for years but these zeds are abit beyond me ;) im used to propa older simple cars ;)

mine has got bovs.. I noticed them were the recircs are norm fitted.

no I have not done a a compression test

. but please dont say that anyway as it sounds bad ;)

Ha I spose it does doesn't it sorry er it'll be fine do that last  mine was a bit low (150psi I thjnk it was) and its been perfectly reliable and strong as an ox for 20 000 miles since so I wouldnt worry.

Mine would fall through idle sometimes unless the air con was on that raises it a bit. But I drove a car with hks ssqs the other day and apart from back firing a bit as it dumped it idled fine.

A real head scratcher but to my mind, youve proved it has spark, reckon it has fuel, it could be air somehow, perhaps its got a boost leak or something and that is the weakest cylinder so its the first to miss???

Anyway, someone else will solve it, good luck mate :thumbup1:

i had a Honda years ago with a miss fire every one looked at it went to 4 garages and no one could fix it even Honda them selfs. just by chance a gut from down the road stoped and had a look turns out one of the spark plugs was funny. was ok but when warm it missed so some thing a daft as that mite be worth looking at

yeah I suppose we do always think the worst rather than the obvious ;)

I have just been out in the car today an now tge car seems to be misfiring in the same way it would if it had a boost leak ; (

getting pretty peed off with it to be honest.

Try and get a boost leak done. Might be a o ring on that injector not seated right so letting air out of the cylinder.

well thats a possibility isnt it.. im pretty sure that the injector is ticking with the ear test but it doesnt mean its working properly does it?? its the front left so might be able to get it off with plenum on by the lokks of it.

is there a possibilty the injector was on its way out hence the bad idle an missing. an it has finaly gone pop completely an is now running like a total bag on crap ; (

are the pcv valves a possibility? ?

and are there any vacumes pipes etc that cant be seen from the top of the engine ?

have you tried just un plunging the coil pack one as a time and seing if the engine not changes as it should as you unplug one at a time if you unplug one and there is no change then then you have narrowed down to that cylinder . then can work from there

ok back to how it was before now. just lumpy missing on tick over when warm ;) it was low on fuel lol hence the bad running ..

I have been on it all day, I think I may have touched on something in soaking the bovs as she seems to be running pretty nice since doing that. I shall do ohms test on tuesday on injectors

just a quick update, I have stripped and cleaned both dump valves as they were sticking and she is running lovely ;) ;)

MmMm... does not explain the dodgy cylinder though, you may still have an underling problem like a low cylinder the air leak at the bovs showing it out.
