Is this an easy fix? :helpsmilie:

I think I have read that it is due to a weakening of springs, would this be correct?

If this is the case, is there a write up somewhere?

Also, is there an upgrade to the springs that I should also consider?

Any help would be much appreciated as it is driving me mad!!

Can't stand rattly engines.

Too low tick over can also cause this noise.

I am happy with tick over Jeff, it's more apparent when I am either...

(1) When I feather the throttle at around 2,500rpm and 3,000rpm it is very noisy. (rattly)

(2) It is also very pronounced when I put her in the garage. (1,000rpm to 2,000rpm up a slight decline under load)

(3) Not sure if this is relevant, but she does rattle quite badly at start up from cold for a second or 2

Jeff, meant to add, Tick over when up to temp' 750rpm. (from cold start, 1400rpm)

Okay thought you meant at tick over which is when most complain about will hearing it, by 2k to 3k rpm the engine is making a lot of noises and would of thought vvt rattle would be drown out so maybe your hearing something else?

Thanks Jeff,

Although that does start me worrying that it may be something more sinister.

I know I should not say this, but it does sound like little ends to me.

A little history of the engine.

I acquired the car from my boss in 2007 who had owned it for 12 years.

22,000 miles ago he had Nissan put a full new engine in it.

During his ownership he very rarely took it above 4,000rpm and had it regularly serviced etc'. (he has an R8 now.)

I am struggling to believe that if the above is so that it can be anything serious, but never the less it does not sound good to me.
