What's this pipe

What's this pipe for? It runs to the block then goes off to the clutch cylinder

 

Is it needed? I plan to run a single pipe down to the clutch cylinder and do away with this bit of the pipe

    As above its the remote clutch bleed nipple and pipe, most do away with the long run of pipe in favor of a braided hose direct to the slave from the master cylinder.
