Richard, you are quite right I am talking rubbish, I think the £500 I had in my head was after some new discs and pads too. Here is my email I got from him...

I think the MX5 thing was representative of the rears because I never told him I had one.

If I got some of these

Would floating rotors rattle and are they worth opting for over stock? My understanding of floating rotors is that the outer ring of brake disc is bolted to the top hat bit in the middle that goes on the hub rather than it being one piece of metal, to better prevent warping when it heats up??? I know some bike brake set ups rattle when cold? or am I totally wrong again.

Yeah they are also called 2 piece, allows the more expensive set of disks to only be replace with the outers instead of the bell aswell as it would cost heaps. D2 Calipers are good but apparently the pads and disks which come with them are not up to the job, and let the caliper down.

Has everyone forgot about the R33/34 GTR upgrade path - direct bolt on rather than brackets needed, plenty of options on pads & discs out there, reasonably cheap to source & a massive upgrade!

heres my thread: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?150484-My-R33-GTR-Brembo-brake-upgrade!&highlight=brembo+brake+upgrade

On my old zed I done a full caliper rebuild with uprated pads & discs and have also done the GTR upgrade - the difference is staggering. Much more confidence when braking especially at speed!

:)

Trouble is, a find a half decent pair b cost of them c rebuild kits arnt common. For what those 20+ year old calipers cost you you can source some from a 350

should try for the 370z ones, 355mm discs and calipers that are only a few years old.

Discs are cheap as well, from brake parts they are 100 quid a pair for stock
