Every since I've owned my Zed, I have a small cold start issue.

Turn the key and engine instantly fires up, rpm climbs, but then drops away to stall point. Sometimes stalls sometimes doesn't. The revs then "bounce" their way up to about 1100 fast idle.

After a few mins running all is well, and the idle drops to around 850.

Anyone any ideas?

Car is a 95, series 4 NA, only engine mod is a Blitz cone filter and hard pipes.

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

Agreed, regular culprit...

if not dirty it could then be the sender unit. (you can check it by taking it out putting it in boiling water, at the same time put an ohmmeter on it to measure the resistance, it should gradually change, I think there is a test you cna do in FSM)

It could also be the connector to the IAA unit or the unit might need a clean or have a vac leak.

good write up on the IAA here:

this might also help:

Check and clean out the IACV valve. They gum up and can stick when cold.

Also have a look at the voltage for the TPS to see whether that's ok, but that tends to be a problem that is always present regardless of temperature.

LOL.. beat me... :)

Dont know why they are high. It was checked when at zed world jeff said he had adjusted them. But ive sprayed them down. Its 50 50 either high or not
