A friend of mine's mechanic mate had to drive a customer's Twin Turbo ZX briefly after some work was done on it, and he reported to my firend that he thought 'it wasn't actually that fast'. Was he talking out of his arse?

Another thing.

Bikers need experience too. Dont think cos you can handle the speed you know everything. About a year ago I saw 2 bikes go past, brand new and could tell that they where new to riding bikes. At traffic lights the go up the outside of me going a little too fast for riding through traffic over the ghost island where all the road crap lands, they both brake quite hard because they ran out of room. Both wheels lock up on the gravel and they both came off. They where fine but you could just tell by the way they where riding that they both new riders. Probably did one of these one week crash courses. They teach you to ride a bike but not read the road.

The death rate of bikers is shooting up every year. Over half of the deaths are new middle aged riders who think they can handle it. It takes guts to ride fast, it takes more to say its too fast.

Yep agree 100%,had bikes since I was 7 years old, passed test at 17;) I can say off the mark forget it car drivers:D However what I can say is,I can take on bikes at a rolling 90mph with ease.Well as long as they are no bigger than a 750!

My last kill was a GSX 750,started to pull away at 120 at 160 he was getting smaller and smaller in my rear veiw mirror,Was he trying? you bet, he was laid on his fuel tank:D.

Thanks for the warnings over the GSXR guys. I intend to take it real easy for a while just getting used to it. Had dirt bikes for years when I was a teenager but not had much road riding experience. Can't wait to do some track days to improve my ability within the (relative) safety of the run off areas.

However, it does seem that the most dangerous thing about riding bikes is the cars on the road. Invisible - too right X-biker!

One thing's for sure - If I ever see a red zed coming up behind me at 160+ i'm moving over straight away. MAC1's sonic boom'll be enough to put me into the biggest tank-slapper since Jo Guest!!
