adivce about why my zed was overheating before the big ends went

when i took my zed to rockingham and was on the track, i noticed that the water temp was getting hot. we were doing a lot of 7000rpm in 2nd gear round the windy parts of the track. Did the car get hot just cause of high speed at low gear, and therefore not enough air to cool? i found that it cooled down if i did half a lap at ease. however, i think it got really hot (near the red) when the big ends went, but it was hard to keep an eye on the controls whilst chasing a porsche 911!

i checked the water level and it hasnt lost anything and the oil level is good as well.

sshould i get bonnett vents? and do they do any good?

cheers

steve

well Iain reckons the bonnet vents help, so it wouldnt be a bad idea. I'd deffinatly go for an uprated radiator thuogh such as craigs full metal one, but you've probably allready got your name down for one of these.

ya better going for the uprated radiator ste

i cant believe you let the temp gauge go that far,why didnt you pull straight off the track as soon as it started to move?

like i said jay, didnt notice until it was hot, then the best thing is to run it calmlt so the air gets the engine and helps cool it down, also i was chasing a porscher which was fun at the time and didnt notice the temp until it got hot.

anyways the car goes to falcon engineering on monday, so will know the damage by the end of the week i should think. kepp your fingers crossed for me guys!

cheers

Steve too late;) The stock temp is total shite.

It starts to boil before the bloody needle moves.IMHO go get an aftermarket one, especially if you are doing track days;)

fingers crossed for next week mate.
