My £20 membership is on its way to Craig before you think I'm cheeky for advertising on this bit of the forum!

Anyway, nothing too exciting for sale, just a PTU for £100.

Oh, and if anyone running 18's needs a part worn, I have an excellent nick Michelin Pilot Sport 275/35/18 £60. (check out Kwik-fit price of £362!)

Take it easy.

James.

Power Transistor Unit, its an ignition amplifier as some manufacturers call it.

what does the ptu do.

I have a problem with my 91 na auto, see post on ecu wanted.

My garage thinks its the ecu hence the post looking for a replacement.

Its electrical, it revs ok to 2000 then hesitates, dies then comes back very quickly, sort cyclic.

the power light 16 times, the diagnostic check says its the throttle sensor, but imput and out from auto ecu is ok, but output fron management ecu to gearbox is wrong, too high voltage. would this have anything to do with the ptu

and another thing my horn keeps going off by its self, any clues?

Thats what mine was doing when my AFM fooked up:(

Yeah thats the airflow meter ok!!! Very rarely shows up as a fault on the diagnostic. It is located under the panel between the headlights. Unfotunately these are very costly items. See if you can source a second hand part ;)

CheerZ,

Isnt the revs cutting out over 2000 the fail safe system? The manual says 2400rpm in fail safe mode.

An AFM fault would do this but there are other possibilities too.

AFM fault should give code 12

There is a mention of abnormally high or low voltage reference coming from the AFM if faulty.

You should double check all connections for corrosion etc

Willie

willieO,

see new thread asking for AFM.

You can floor the thottle and it will acceierate through it ok, but as you back off same problem occurs.

ECU diagnostic - no faults?

will check conections and hopefully get check AFM to try soon

thanks.
