Does anyone know what the best thing to do about the Trim around the Window is?

I Guess everyone has this problem as All 300's i've seen do...

The Rubber has perished and looks sh*t.

Can i buy them cheap from somewhere or is it better just to remove it?

Hiya Dan.

I wouldn't remove it mate or it'll leak like no-one's business.

Give Luke a buzz at Z Centre (01159 676356) pretty sure he'll be able to get some or personally I'd go to Courtesy Nissan.

I meant just removing the Rubber so the Shiney metal is showing.

Surely it wont leak, will it?

I've a Silver TT so i think it'll look better...

Dan

are you mad? the rubber is the ONLY thing stopping it from letting in rain etc!

mine is in really good nick and still leaks a little when hosing it down after I've washed it!

as for silver...... without a doubt the best colour!!!!!

take it easy.

Are we talking about the same things?

The trims that run alonside the windows?

If so it might explain the pool of water in the back!!

Dan

I presume that you mean the black coating (rather than rubber) which tends to get an odd sort of crazed finish over the years. I suspect that the metal underneath will go rusty if you remove it. And of course rust on a silver car will show up beautifully, never notice it on a red one though .... ;)

Hmmmm, there is a strip that runs down the side of the WINDSCREEN that goes crappy! yo don't mean that do you?

I know it sounds a bodge but a neatly cut piece of black insulating tape does the trick there!

..........RED?? nah.

I think i'll have to buy some from somewhere.... I might spray them Silver......

Silver Z's r d best!

When I picked up my import 300ZX it had black tape applied to the targa trims ( same as the window trims) it looked O.K from a distance but close up it looked like " it had black tape applied to the targa trims". I asked my painter if he could repaint the trims but he reckoned they were powder coated and couldn't do it. I eventually brush painted them myself using black Hammerite and "stippling" with a brush when the paint was tacky. It gives a decent matt black textured finish. The problem with removing the

original black finish is cutting it away and not leaving obvious cut marks also, while the finish underneath is bright "chrome" which probably wont rust, if the finish is broken it probably wil rust!

Got the same problems on my silver Z TT. But oly on the drivers side for some reason. The black paint has come away leaving a black bit in the middle and crome looking colour around the edges.

Thinking of spraying this up myself.

I had the same problem with mine,so I put a few coats of Hammerite hammered finish paint on them and now they look fine.

Make sure you spend some time masking off the areas either side with masking tape and a steady hand and hey presto,no more tatty looking trim.

Cheers,

F.T.

I sprayed mine using "Plasticote" sort of like hammerite. Worked perfect.
