mine was doing this water in the aiv take wheel of remove wheel arch liner and its bolted in with a few bolts really easy to get out there is vac pipe going to the aiv I took this off bent it over and rip tied it up tite then remove thw whole aiv and then block up the pipe with some 15mm copper stop ends unless you have a decat pipes and if so the you don't need to block it off

if i was to tie of or bloke that vac pipe where does whatever air gas or vacume goto or mores to the point if it was on the end of a ballon it would blow the ballon up eventaly what im trying to say is were do that pressure build up go or back up to if removed if its not going through the exhaust system.

Do you still have cats? The aiv system is designed to introduce cool air to the cats for cooling, if you have no cats, you can delete the entire aiv system.

If you still have cats and need to retain the aivs, then under the arch liner is the aiv tank, unbolt and get rid of the water and re install, the water is a build up of condensation of a long period of time and shouldnt need to do it again after emptying out.

When blocking the vac to the aiv unit there is no build up of pressure the vacuum will just carrying on in the circulation within the plenum

No cats, no need for the AIV system, just rip it all out and never worry again about gurgling or at least block the vac pipe at the aiv solenoid near to the brake master cylinder, if you are not going to remove it all lol

AIV's don't cool cats, they operate when the car is cold, as cars emit most nasty shit when the cars cold (on cold start with cats to cold to operate) the function of the AIV's is to warm the cats to operating temps quicker in an attempt to lower HC and CO levels quicker during that warm up period, apparently the valves also operate under deceleration also to rid the system of moisture, whether any of it works is another story but I do agree the lot is shite, rip it all out :)

Might have worded it wrong but

The air induction valves (AIV's) only exist in the z32 models 1990-1992. The AIV's are part of idle emissions control. They introduce air into the exhaust before the catalytic converters so that the "cats" will work cooler and more efficiently. [/TD]:whistling:

Sorry...... And that is quoted from where?? Well matey I don't know everything but I am a mechanic, its my job to know that a cat works more efficiently when it's warm contrary to the above crap, not to mention the countless customers cars ive mot'd and had to give a "lively" drive down the nearest bypass to get the cats warm enuf to actually work, and if you do some research online including the 300zx service manual (tho a tad vague) you'll find out there function ;) here's one I found in a quick search :)

http://www.cmperformanceexhaust.com/faqs/10-the-aiv-fitting-for-the-nissan-300zx

Lots of conflicting info on it lol, got it from here on Robos site

And after a search you are right, it introduces air to burn unspent fuel to aid the cats up to temp, which may have got lost in translation over the years and turned into air to cool the cats. :thumbup1:

Either way bin em

Not sure about drilling a whole into a vacumed system, might cas me more grief?

You drill it on the inlet side, not the vacuum side.

can you describe whitch bit on my photo? just drill a small hole in the bottom side of the black box?

the inlet air elbows before it goes into the aiv, so when its working it has to suck the air through the pool of water at the bottom. its probably easier to bin them altogether as you say you have no cat's anyway. at least disconnecting the vacuum line from the AIV sov on the bulkhead would disable them and stop the noise.

see link for more in depth info.
