Hi guys,

Just got her MOTd. Very happy she went through first time as it is our first MOT together. Few advisories, which would be grand to have some advice on as one of them I have never come across before...

main question is how bad are these, and could any of them lend themselves to the car pulling to the left?.. see attached image.

The rear rack ball joint (as far as i grasped from my mechanic) was a central ball joint which had some movement, does that sound right? and is it worth locking the hicas to stop these issues happening? Hope it isn't too large job.

best,

William.

Yes mate just stick a hicas lockout kit on it and replace the front tension rod bushes too, they could also cause pulling particularly under braking.

Mike at MJP auto will be able to supply the tension rod bushes for sure.

Hi mate, Thanks for the reply - I replaced the tension rod bushes for Poly bushes last month so they should be okay I think, although swapping them for adjustable arms this week along with adjustable camber arms.

I will look into the hicas lockout then :)

Best regards,

are you sure you replaced the balljoints on the hubs (the ones that are pressed in) the MOT tester seems to be refering to these or ther inner joints on the track arms (innermost to the rack).

neither of these parts can be polly-bushed.

The MOT tester is refering to the hicas arm which is an easy replace, this is were he mentioned there is some wear, the outer bush he mentioned is a split rubber cover only, recent changes to MOT testing mean rubber boots on ball joints are now checked, as its an advisory only it cannot be too bad.

The clarity with both fail and advisories exists is because testers have to choose from a set of preset descriptions and often they do have one that fits exactly.
