I actually have one of these but haven't had an opportunity to test it yet !!!!

Hampered slightly because it needs to be fixed in the car, unless you have a passeneger - which I seldom do.

It is actually a perfect fit for the little space below the standard radio slot, BUT it complains about being tilted too far off horizontal and won't work frown.gif

If anybody local wanted to borrow it for a play then I wouldn't object too much. BTW I'm only 20m or so West of SE.

Andy,

Looking at the site, it suggests that you can set it for tilt. I'd love to have a go sometime if we can all meet up somewhere 'safe' ... !

We have a local disused airfield here and I have been trying to find out what sort of condition it's in and who owns it but have so far been unsucessful. Saw somebody mentioned North Weald earlier today, that is near here and I may go if I'm in the country.

I've just checked the manual regarding tilt and as I suspected it relates to the compensating for the squat due to acceleration.

Couple of things :

- Just had an email from the guys who produce the performance meter and it can compensate with an angle of up to 23 degrees from the horizontal

- Quite a few people have met up at RWYBs but I wouldn't recommend Ultimate Street Car. The 'normal' RWYBs have far less people and you get unlimited runs. There are also a lot less prats around ! That's not to say USC isn't a laugh - I just wouldn't want to get my car too near to the Nova boys' cars.

Dave,

Just checked their web site FAQ and it sez this :-

What if I can't mount it level?

When timing operations are started, the AC-22 checks how level it is, and compensates for any tilt errors. If the tilt is too much it will display a message telling you. If it's within range, the unit will compensate for the tilt using Active Tilt Compensation. This reduces the error for large tilt angles by accouting for not only the offset caused by the units tilt, but also for the reduction in sensitivity caused by the tilt. This extra compensation increases the angle you can mount it at before you get a 1% error from less than 8 degrees to over 23 degrees.

A quick bit of reasonably scientific estimation indicates that the gap under the stereo is inclined at ~32 degrees to the horizontal, which explains why the tilt error comes up as soon as timing is started. It's not the end of the world - it just needs to be blu-tacked somewhere.
