Does anybody know the real answer?

 

Is it because of tension put on the lenses?

 

Is it because we slam the heavy tailgate down?

 

Does anyone know of a way of stopping it happening?

 

Is the answer out there?

Haven't had anything fracture since I bought it (Aug 99).

 

Either I'm a wuss and don't slam the tailgate hard enough or one of your Zed's got a problem?

 

Do all your rear lenses on all your zeds fracture?

I was wondering how easy it is to black them out? or maybe clear lenses, like Gran Turismo Z's on the PS2!! (mines Silver too),

Thought I'd come to your rescue here to say that mine have started going too (started in the last year). My brothers Prelude has it much much worse though.

 

Reckon, it's time to buy some new lights - 99 spec all the way I reckon!

yup, mine have gone too! Going to buy the illuminated panel and clear un's after crimbo!

 

I guess I don't know my own strength! ;)

Mine are going too, especially round the reflector lens. :mad:

 

deffo need the 99 spec methinks :cool:

As you probably know I sell 300ZX parts and its REALLY common for them to crack around the edges. Most seem to be either perfect or really bad. The lenses are double skinned, the outer layer being very thin and therefore very fragile. I have got some good ones by the way. £35 each if anyones interested.

I have the same problem. I have just recently bought my Z and it came with small white cracks in the rear lense covers. Im trying to source some...any ideas?

my lenses are ok, its the 300zx panel thats cracked on mine :(

My bet is that it is the weight of the tailgate that causes them to crack.

 

On my convertibles or my SWB, neither of them have cracked and I think this is due to the lighter boot/tailgate.

 

Are there any other SWB owners out there who can tell me if their lenses are cracked?
