Hi Guys,

Well, a couple of 5:00am starts, a missed flight and a trip to Lurgan in Northern Ireland later and my new Zed is still not quite home yet. Don't get me wrong, she didn't miss a beat on the journey back. She even coped with 2 and half hours of rush-hour traffic off the ferry and through Liverpool, the temp gauge never even troubling the middle of the dial:clap: The car went straight to MWP in Chester for a FULL healthcheck and to get some of the more pressing issues sorted :thumbup1:

She's in for a replacement scuttle trim, top door window seal, driver's door alignment, and an oil cooler for the 'box. Oh yeah, and a working radio would be nice too. I was considering pushing the boat out for a new rad and electric fan but after her performance this morning, I'm not sure it's that urgent now :)

Apart from the enthralling update ;) what I could really do with is advice on where to get the parts. A quick bit of research and Zcentre seems to have most of the kit I need but could you guys recommend any other UK based outfits? :helpsmilie:

Thanks in advance dudes :D

N.

P.S. Major respect to Sean, the car's previous owner. Nicest bloke I've ever bought a car from.

I know this thread should probably in the Journals Forum (see, I am learning! ;) )

The last part that we were waiting for has arrived! and as it's the cambelt tensioner, it's been holding everything else up (radiator etc.) Big shout out to Mr Feeney, you made my day :thumbup1: Work can now start in earnest and, you never know, I might have a working Zed by this time next week :balloon:

Hi Steams, yeah I guess it probably should be there. That way I won't be bothering folks who are trying to fix their cars with the saga/shaggy dog tale that is/has been my motor.

Cheers dude. :thumbup1:

I nearly bought this car. I actually feel I missed out as I now know it was very good value for money. Seems like a genuine and almost totally unmolested example and the motor pulled very strong (much more than the last zed I drove). Sorry to hear you have had a few issues, but I feel once these are sorted you'll be sweet. Some things I noticed where that there was noise from a fan between the targa tops and some small evidence of rust on one of the strut towers, no biggie for the money I'd say it was a bargain. A few pounds spent and you'll have an exceptional example.

Ayup. Yes, I did see that you'd had a look at the car, Gary pointed me towards your thread. It's been a roller coaster of a month since we got it off the ferry. But we've dug deep and found a fair bit more to do than we bargained for. I did notice the fan noise too. It's annoying, being right by your left lughole but apparently a bit of wd40 should sort it once I get the cover off.

Thanks for the encouraging comments. :thumbup1: On balance, I still feel good about the car and I think I was lucky to get it. A couple of hundred miles will soon tell anyway! I am chuffed to hear you thought the engine pulled well. I thought it felt strong but I didn't have much to compare it to, Zed-wise. As for the work done and money invested in it, it's been a stretch. We've probably done in a month what I would have got to in 6-9 months. All I can say is roll-on next week, when I can actually get her home for the first time. :cool3:
