Just seen this :

The legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit is to be axed from the 2003 F1 calendar, it is reported.

Team bosses agreed at a meeting on Thursday that the Belgian Grand Prix should be struck off the itinerary for 2003, according to news agency Reuters.

It means that there will be 16 races on the calendar next season, instead of the 17 there have been in recent years. However, the reduction is likely to be only temporary as both China and Bahrain have been promised grands prix from 2004.

Team bosses made the decision at a get-together on Thursday ahead of the crucial Formula 1 Commission summit on Monday. They hope that the move will be rubber-stamped at next week’s meeting.

Spa, one of the most popular tracks on the F1 calendar, is paying the price for the Belgian government’s decision to introduce a law against tobacco advertising in August next year before the grand prix.

F1 is definitely in a decline and needs sorting out but I love the Spa race.

Personally I think it'll be a real shame if this happens.

this is goign to happen :( the best circuit bar none and its gone :(

sometimes wonder if the FIA have there heads in the ground regarding this sport? this is a start to a serious decline, because the next gp track built in a place like BAHREIN will be the usual crap. The sport is losing all of its glamour and showbuisness :(

Spa is my favourate track and I know that it is liked with the drivers too. Long fast curves and fast corners which shows true driving capability.

Why not rid of one of the boring ones like Hungary, and I know Im gonna start an argument but Monaco bores me to death.

I used to watch it every time it was on years ago. Now I have very little interest in it.

well Hungry allow advertising no?

thats what it boils down to - Moola.

Go watch Monaco live - just like any GP really, they are very exciting to see realtime.

TV tends to take away the perception of speed.

Monaco to me is the highilght of the season.

Well Warren I dont have the money to go Monaco and watch it live.

I dont have £500 a night for a hotel. I cant afford they way the prices jump 10 fold when its on. I could hardly afford it when I went in August last year.

Well a little known fact, the gp is free to watch at monaco on the banks above the tunnel.

Cpamping out and around Monaco cost less than it does at sliverstone, so its really not that expensive, flights down to naples or around monaco cost 50 squid
