Hey guys,

As crazy as it sounds but my ptu has been getting wet. Upon giving my idling engine a look I noticed that there was some steam coming from the front of the engine. Turns out that my radiator hose has a tiny hole in it and probably from before has been spurting out water all over the ptu. Any ideas what negatives of a wet ptu might be?? Anyone got a good radiator hose??

Many thanks

it's a potted unit so will be fine. connections will be more likely to corrode if they are covered in glycol/water. leave as is unless you get problems. disturbing it will probably cause more problems.

i'd be more worried about the coolant levels being low and undetected - leading to a more serious failure.

Thanks bud. Will top up whatever was lost but believe I've caught it in time. Just wondered if there were any known issues of a wet ptu.

I changed my rad yesterday, and had to sputter home, engine stalling every time my foot went near the throttle. had no probs before leak, apart from some boost probs which zedworld advised was from a faulty thermostat. was going to change the thermo today, but after reading your post i'm wondering myself if a wet ptu can cause these sort of problems as well.......
