plug gap

Featured Replies

They should be preset, are they defiantly the stock plugs? It doesn't give the model number on that advert. Are you running stock boost levels? Why do you think it's the new plugs?

It not Defently the plugs but I have a misfire on cylinder 5 so we are going swap a ht lead over check the gaps and the injectors just to find out what is wrong. Im not sure of the model number number of the plugs. The highest my boost guage has gone is 0.4-0.5bar and I hit whqt feels like a limiter at about 5-5.5k rpm

That's what mine was doing, the plugs were old and shitty, I fitted the correct new plugs and it pulls like a train all the way now.

These were brand new so I thought I would check the gaps were correct and check them for cracks

I have my brothers old plugs that he said had done about 5k and are still fine but he could only find 5 and I dont know if they are a hotter or a cooler plug then what is in there or if its a platinum or a iridium plug im guessing you dont want to mix and match plugs

What plugs are in there? I'm asuming they're BKR7EIX as they're advertised as a colder iridium plug #7.

Any typical plug gapped at 1.1mm will be able to deal with 0.5 bar of boost. The aforementioned plug will have no issue at all.

The gap for any application should be the largest possible without the spark being blown out for a given boost level.

I have no part number for the plugs as I gave them to the bloke who fixed and manual converted my car so the box was thrown out but the link at the top is the ones I brought

Pull one out and have a look. Best to check the rear two have been changed, some places don't bother.

Saying that, if you've had this issue since the car was worked on, can you not take it back to him?

Sorry, I assumed you had paid for the work to be done.

I did pay lol but my brother is waiting for his bigger injectors to go in

I was waiting for 3 months b4 he started it as somthing else always come up so thought ut would b alot easier to try and find out what can be done myself even though Im a total newb with mechanics

I've had issues with the copper versions (BCPR7ES) before, not used the iridium versions.

I have my brothers old pfr6b which apparently are still ok but I only have 5 of them as he cant find the other

Is ut worth a try putting one on the dodgy cylinder?

When I switched cylinder 5 off with conzult it didnt seem to make as much difference to the running unlike when I turned off any of the others
