my uncle looking for a jag and one popped up and rang alarm bells striaght away, he had seen it on autotrader at 17k, it then popped up on ebay i think he said for 9K as a must sell quick

car is in germany (munich to be precise), he was told to put the money into holding for 5 days with ebay, then they will ship the car within that time, if he is happy with it he can release the money to them

sounds like a scam to me and im sure ive read on here or another forum where a member was caught out the same way

has anyone ever heard of a scam like this, the story goes that they travelled to germany in it and are not coming back so must ship it back, seems dodgy to me and do ebay hold money like that?

thoughts?

Yeah heard of similar things ie i work off shore i want to buy/sell the car for my son/daughter birthday etc.

I was chasing 350z convertible 2years ago and it was a guy couldn't afford to insure the car in spain and had to sell quick and cheap and was using a shipping company in hull that the car would be delivered to your address once you were happy the money would be released. but the guy had used the same wording in another add but completely different part of the country. i ended up reporting it to the cops to chase up they passed it to there specialist car crime squad.

there an add for a 350z that keeps popping up now and again, its a silver full nismo from germany for years its being popping up and is very good value so its most probs apart of the same scam

i had similar but when selling my 350z

got a text saying they would pay full price, was present for son. they said they had to go away the next day etc.

just ignored it

I have sold the car now but it's still on autotrader as I am letting it run it's full course to gauge further interest but I do practically get an email 'enquiry' a day, often in broken not normal car speak English, I replied briefly to a couple and you get back basically 'really like the car and want to pay with paypal' and if you haven't got paypal they put a link in their reply for you to obviously click and then they'll be able to trace your log in .
