whats the best move to sort ticking noise for lifter additives maybe .the guy who i got the car off changed the oil few days before i got it said he used a semi 10 40 oil is that the correct oil to use

Featured Replies

I had this problem when using the right oil so I went for some 10/60 fully synthetic and after a week or so it went away completely.

so what oil was u using to start with

I ran mine on semi-synth 10W40 for about a year. Developed a sticking lifter a few months back so decided to try some fully synthetic HKS (manufactured by Idemitsu) 10W45 and it's been spot on.

Just need a good quality oil and give it a decent run, mine does it eveytime without fail if its been stood for a while,

the car has been stood for 2 weeks and just stated 3 times to move it so mite need a good run

I'm not sure to be honest, but I do know I will always use the 10/60 from now on.

id stongley recommend not using a 10/60 its about 40% thicker at 100 degrees c than a synthetic 10/40 you really arnt doing your engine any favors there

so a fully 10/45 then ? am reading here in a oil add in a mag i have its says 10/60 is a performance alternatine where the manufacturer specifies 10/40

A good hard drive first of all. There isn't one particular oil that everyone will recommend as people have different results with different specifications.
