Earlier on this year i decided i would attempt to do a new style dash cluster gauge holder.

So i got went shopping for materials and got started.

firstly i needed something to form a shape so i started cutting out some cardboard and covered it in lots of tape.

then i had to make it into a solidish shape, so i glued together some florist foam and shaped it out and plenty of filler.

then lots of sanding

After this i stripped down a original cluster cowl and started on making two become one.

lots of filler and many hours sanding and shaping later i had something that looked like this

I then got it all painted up and ready to make a mold of it.

Great work Dave, nice to see you getting some enthusiasm back after the problems in the past youve had with her.

So now its time to get the sticky stuff out and do lots of fibreglassing.

unfortunatley the original smashed to peices getting it out but after some persuasion it came out.

Then cleaned it up

lots of mold release agent rubbed on to help the next stage and then some more fibreglassing

Next stage was to make sure that this time it didn't break seperating the two. that bit wasn't easy.

After some shaping and cleaning i was left with this.

Next stage was to get the original stripped down cluster cowl fixed onto the underside and cut out the gauge holes.

Then i trimmed it up with some leatherette(gonna be professionally done one day) and i am happy to have it all fitted now looking like this

This took some doing for me as i had never attempted anything like it before so im happy it hasn't turned out too badly.

thankyou.

Fair play to you, deciding you want something and then going at it yourself!:bow:

Not my flavour Dave but mucho respect for the time you have put into it mate:bow::bow:

You know, i would be inclined to go a bit further with your design and recess the gauges and you have room for a couple of nice switches.
