I have bought some alloy wheels on ebay and not received them yet. Bought them last Tuesday and not heard from the seller since  I may be a bit premature worrying about them its just he was very helpful up to the point I payed and then nothing since. Ive asked for an update on the delivery just so I can arrange for someone to be at home as I work but no answer. Im getting worried as he has negative feedback for not sending an item but he has sent items since so it could be nothing to worry about. I just want a message saying "hi will be sent" or "sorry been busy will send soon" something

Anyway question was have any of you had this problem and what are ebay like with refunds etc? Im prepared to wait till the weekend as that will be over 2 weeks but them im opening a dispute

You did purchase through ebay and paid with paypal.....if so as a buyer you can obtain a full refund just follow their guidelines and time frame and you cannot possibly be out of pocket, so don't worry for the time being and be patient but some communication would be nice, which is a reason to open up a dispute.

as phutumsch say as long as you have done this you are covered and will get a refund ebay have been advertising this on tv lately.

Yeh did it through ebay and paypal thankfully. Ive never had a problem with ebay before so its all a bit new to me even though I have 500 score :) never had problem selling or buying. Hopefully they will just appear on my doorstep soon

Thanks for the reply

Opening up a dispute can rub people up the wrong way, so stay polite as long as possible, packing and organizing a courier can take time so try not to come across as inpatient.

I wouldn't of thought the seller is playing silly buggers unless he's unhappy with the price you paid and wants to refund then he can take his chance again.

This is what I thought earlier as he might have a genuine reason but if he does tell me and I will wait. It shouldn't be price as he had offers and accepted mine so unless hes changed his mind

Or had a better offer.

Well I actually asked him how much he wanted and offered that which he accepted. This ended the auction so unless its outside ebay or something like that but if that case why not issue a refund

Agree with the above - send a final message to him, being polite, saying you really want the items to be delivered and sadly you'll have no choice but to open a dispute in an attempt to get your money back if they don't turn up. Put in a specific deadline as well, say a few days from now, so you're being 100% transparent and fair.

You will have no problem if you payed through paypal

As an ex trader on ebay I can tell you that a buyer can get a refund even if they received the goods, and are under no compunction to return them either unless you want to personally take them to court.

For example an overseas buyer we sent two parcels (as part of the same sale) one via airmail and the other via surface mail as he requested, got a *full* refund on the entire transaction (which was debited from our account) when the remainder sent by surface mail failed to arrive after six weeks even though he himself said he had already recieved the first parcel and lewft positive feedback for it, and the second parcel eventually arrived a week or so afterwards

Another one got a refund on a satellite reciver that he had signed for (and we had proof of delivery) because he said he had not had it.

ebay/paypal are just not interested in these cases.

Probably this explains why we closed our ebay business a couple of years ago?

The customer is king it seems

If he has sent them, he should have provided a despatch tracking number, or at least a contact of the courier he is using, as already said there could be reasons beyond his control, but this doesn't excuse not keeping you up to date.

You did the right thing using Ebay with Paypal, so any dispute should be resolved in your favour..hope it doesn't get to this.

Make sure you paid for goods and not gift as if you paid via a gift PayPal will not help you nor eBay I tried.

Its good to know I will get my money back but its a shame as I still want the wheels. I have messaged him one last time today but if I get no reply I will have to open a dispute sadly.

Thanks for replies :thumbup1:

Well ive had a reply finally  Could be genuine or not but his net was down and courier was late picking them up but they collected them yesterday so should be with me by the weekend. I have asked for a tracking number and name of the company so will see if he replies :)

Anyone know if a courier will leave an item if your out or does it depend on who its with? I have to go out tomorrow and Monday so no one will be in but I was thinking of leaving a note saying there safe to leave. He sent them Tuesday so hoped they would be here today but nothing and hasn't responded to my message asking for a tracking number :headvswal

If they were sent on Tuesday where the eck are they then, couriers are 24, 48 and sometimes 72, even so they should of arrived today.

A note on your door telling the driver where, and it's ok to leave is authorization so they will obey this in most cases, falling that they will leave you a calling card.

Think he has sent the wheels by horse carriage  getting proper  annoyed now

Opened a case against him now as he wont provide a tracking number or tell me who he sent them with. I did a google search for the wheels as they are Veilside Andrews so thought there wouldn't be many for sale and guess what I found the same guy :) On a Supra forum with same pics, description and price and based on his feedback score he seems alright so I don't get what he is playing at

I think he is just ignoring the fact that I opened a case against him :xxx: Ive joined the supra forum and he is logging in daily so he is there just not replying.

Obviously when the 8 days is up I will escalate the claim to a refund but is there anything he can do in the meantime? Like close his ebay or paypal account to make things difficult?

He could do mate, but PayPal and eBay fall under the same public doctrine and legislative governance as main stream shops and banks. Both accounts are linked to him personally by name and address along with email address and phone numbers.

I had something similar 2 years back, I got messed around for 7 weeks before finally my items turned up. Ended up being that the seller was acting as a middle man, only buying the items from another company once he sold the item (at a bumped up price) on eBay. I opened a case on him and he emailed me apologizing and explaining that his supplier had let him down.

This is against ebay rules, not physically having the item and the result was, he had his account locked until I received the items.

I finally got a refund in full  Apparently one of the tyres was cut by the courier so they were sent back to his house this week which to me seems like :censored: He gave me the option of a refund or wait and he will get a new tyre. But I was worried I could wait another week and still alloys so got a refund :) No idea if he sold them or just wasn't bothered about sending them or what but just glad its over.

Anyway im on the search again for Veilside Andrews or Volk wheels
