Hello everyone.

Ok so I am now 2 hours away from meeting my first TT Z. I feel like a kid going on a first date!

I have read everything I can over the years about these cars and whilst sitting on this train am procrastinating... How much for general driving use (not racing) can you expect to spend on maintenance per year?

I fear I have had very forgiving n the past, lots of hondas and bmw etc, and have never paid more than a few hundred a year on maintenance. I drive sensibly, have a bit of fun occasionally but of course some cars will withstd more than others.

Realistically and if the base car has been looked after, how deep should my pockets be? I am happy to do the work myself, and have often sourced parts from breaking cars or reconditioned bits to save money...

Best, William.

You can never tell what is going to happen with these cars, you could go for a year with nothing but routine servicing. Is it going to be a daily driver?

Probably daily driver for now, although I only work half a mile away so its hardly going to be working too hard!

As long as it isn't a given that these cars will need thousands each year I'll be fine :p I look after my cars and will more than likely notice if anything is starting to go a bit funny and catch it before any damage is done.

I think you'll be just fine mate you sound like you know what you are looking for so just take it as it comes and enjoy every minute :D

The biggest expense will be at the pumps! Maintenance wise as with most cars if you look after them they will look after you..

Yeah that is what I was hoping - I have been driving a 2.8 bmw for a while now so its only going to be margin worse than that!

if you maintaine and look after them as said bafore they will look after you if you dont than sponsorship form visa or mastercard will be needed,

With any car I've always said budget £1k per annum for tax, servicing, and maintenance for every decade it ages.

Not always strictly true, but it means I'm never surprised.

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

This is a little hard to gauge..... But in layman's terms you will need to have approx. £500 - £1000 per annum for unseen events. You will never know what these little puppies will throw at you when you have ownership. They can be no trouble for sometime, then they can be like an Austin Allegro..... Breaking down when put the key in the ignition.... :)
