Still clunking along - bushes didn't help.. again

Andyduff was dead right. It aint brake pads clonking. Its the pivot bolts in the poly bush inserts. I re checked the pivot bolts on the tension rods and one took a quarter turn and the other where most noise came from took the best part of a full turn. Result no more clonks when you reverse and brake. And I thought I tightened them up properly when I did the poly bushes!

When do you clunk?

Im clunking but when I turn, I have now noticed it when I brake Something is lose in mine becuase it clunks and then when I turn it clunks back.

Stuart, has it just started doing that since you replaced the bushes??? If not then I'd say it was probably the top link bushes showing signs of wear. The noise you get if the pivot bolts aren't tight enough happens when you do the following:-

ย

Brake to a stop whilst moving forwards. Then, put the car in reverse, get up to about 5 mph and hit the brakes. It bangs as the bushes move towards the front of the car.

If these symptoms don't show then chances are its the top link bushes...
