Cam journals

I've wondered about this for a while, thought I'd ask. Is it normal for the journals, although in order i.e. I1, I2, E3, E4 etc. to have some read 'upside down', as in rotated 180 degrees? And what do the dots mean, they appear to be random.

    look a the end Seal bearing cap they will have the txt on there in dots/ E= Exhaust then 5/4/3/2/1 and have the txt all the same way
