Hi,

After some advice regarding lightened flywheels. Seen the recent article in Jap Performance and it mentioned that lightened flywheels give better throttle responese. Currently about to purchase an upgraded clutch(ACT) from America so thought about purchasing a flywheel aswell.

How does the flywheel affect the performance and what are the advantages/disadvantages?

Any recommendations on makes of flywheel available?

Thanks

Ronnie

Get the combination, as ACT do them i believe.

Fordenza are very good.

Its worth doing the flywheel.

Ronnie, dabbled in clutches and flywheels for a while now, though RPS rather than ACT ones, not much life in em, anyways the vast majority of flywheels are half the stock weight, give or take take a few ounces, so not a lot in it when it comes to different makes, the americans favour Fidanza who make shit loads of flywheels for different cars with excellant results, if yer don't want the hassle of importing yerself and paying dues etc, i do a combo deal in the traders section, let me know.

smithy

Lightened flywheel offers less inertia to the engine so revs easier and gives better throttle response. Downside is when pulling away the car is more prone to stalling. it's not a real problem you just need to give it a bit more gas when feeding in the clutch.

Underdrive pulleys also offer less inertia with the same benefits. Good mod!!

Or do them both like me : )
