I am now looking at how much to insure when I finally pull my finger out and get my Z back on the road.... Let alone taxing it.. and the MOT.... Does anyone know if the emissions come into play with a 1991 Z...?

I threw away the cats and went straight through 3 inch pipework....

I got a quote for agreed value (needs a written valuation done), fully comp, Garaged, 5000 miles limit, £250 excess, £75 glass excess, All mods declared, includes legal and breakdown recovery and buy back in case of write off......

Was quoted by LynBrook £269.69.....

Is that a competitive price??

Haven't used my car for 6 years and last paid about £850 fully comp.....:w00t:

Cheers

I've been shopping around for when I get one. Ran a quote on a 1991 UK manual twin turbo... I'm 38, no points, no claims, car on the drive. 5k annual miles.

Flux quoted £722.31! Greenlight wouldn't touch me. The cheapest "high street" quote was from Performance Direct for £318.

Best "classic policy" quote is £306 so far......

Shouldn't need the cats on a pre 92

Thanks for that, I was getting nervous as I binned them a few months ago....lol

Worst quote was £9900 from insure 2 drive on Confused dot com ...... lol

My wife just looked and said the nissan is going...... It did cause a bit of friction for a week or so.....lol

Anyone else had one that high?

I have been with flux before and had "modified insurance", the car was stolen and I only got the book value..... I had been sold the policy as anything happens I have declared the mod's so I would get most of my money back........oh no........ I lost £15,000 for all the modifications, stereo, etc....

Never go there again personally.....

Agreed value, fully comp, everything declared..... not worth taking a risk....

I am gonna try a couple of others and see if they will beat £260.......lol

I'm on an Admiral multicar policy, which works out pretty good for me £412 for the z and the daily, a 530d. Believe it or not the daily costs more than the z. Well worth asking them for a quote.

I've just binned my admiral multi car policy. They wanted £600 ish for the zed and £750 for my mx5 including the so called discount. It takes 12 years to get full ncd with admiral!!! Argued the zed down to £515 but went elsewhere for the mx5 and got it for £280.

i did admiral multi car last year for my 94convertible Z ,2010audi tt ,and my transit connect ,cost. £9300 thay called me and asked if i was interested ,both me and my partner have full no claims and no points ,we do all three for 1100.

 Must be my age then, just checked and they have insured the Z for £177 with all the mods declared.

More likely as I live in Manchester. Although where I live is nice I'm only half a mile from somewhere which used to be one of the most expensive places in the country to get insurance- lovely!!
