Hi all, I have sold my NA and will be getting a tt once I have saved up a bit more money, just wanted to know what the difference was performance wise between the manual and auto.

Numbers wise not a lot, real world, a manual is far more responsive, both in terms of feel and acceleration. Up the strip an auto can be quicker, but punching it down an a road its the manual everytime. The autobox is also a power drinker, me and gaz had a roll on the way back from a rolling road day, mines manual and 286bhp and his is auto and 320(I think it was) I stuck on his back end and had to break. so you can see how much you loose in responsiveness and power to the wheels. The major issue with the autobox is they are nearly always shagged, in good nick theyre alright, most like when mine was auto will suffer from masses of transfer loss when it steps down a gear, and will be very slow to react. Get yourself an manual, the auto is a nice cruiser and I wouldn't let it put you off the right car as swapping over isn't that bad, but obviously its easier to buy a manual car to start with.

Cheers for that mate, thought a manual would be best. Hopefully won't be too long till I can get my hands on one.
