I eventually plucked up the courage to replace the cambelt on the Zed, does this gap on the autotensioner look ok?

 

That gap is just correct for a new static belt, the belt will give a little when first started, the manufacture allows for this, it a sort of once only run in stretch, the adjuster position will change slightly but then will be in the perfect position, this is one of the reasons using an old ( pre streched belt) is not advisable.

The autotensioner actually moved to the gap you see, when I tightened up the tensioner pulley bolt - is that normal?
