As most of ya know, my old Z has been laid up for a while, in a garage that is frequently unacessible most of the time im there.

Well, after finally reconnecting all the the lines and balance tube, i did the Boost jets and ECU job with no probs ( i presume not having any boost to see what if it is working)

Anyway when i finally got to acutally drive the car there was a nasty Metal on rusty Metal Scraping sound. coming from the rear of the car, It didn't happen in Neutral with the engine idling, so im counting out the drive train. Nothing is draggin on the floor. It only happens when the wheels turn.

Im putting my money on Calipers seizing around the breaks, Not too sure how this could happen, Does anyone know anything about the liquid dynamics of break fluid, Does it expand / loose its properies over time ??

Another side effect of this is that the car gets stuck when you leave it for a while, You have to start the engine and give it a bit of welly to unstick said culprit.

Unfortuantly i have not the garage space to carry out a decent inspection at the moment so if anyone have any experience of anything similar happening after leaving there car for a while.

Cheers for any thoughts / info.

Z ya

Nico,

this is 99% your handbrake mechanism.

Mine was the same when it was stored for a while over winter.

My sunny used to be exactly the same too when it was left more than a couple of days.

Either leave the handbrake off while immobile, or periodically use the handbrake and/or rock the car occasionally.

Craig.

Cheers for the nfo Craig, :o))

That could well be what it is, ive left the Hand break off this time to make sure.

Cheers bud,

Sounds like the brake calipers have siezed up a bit, could be a bit of surface rust on the discs. Give it a run and they should be ok. I had the same problem on my Jag after it had been standing for a while.
