Not wanting to tread on anyone's feet here, but apparently this is a hoax. I did a search on it & all I got back was sites saying it is a hoax, that the file is a valid one (a Java debugger manager), although deleting it shouldn't cause any major problems.

 

Anyhoo, this could be wrong too, so everyone look into it themselves & decide. Kudos to Stuart for at least bringing it to our attention :)

 

Oh, and apologies if someone has already said this... I've not checked the other forum it's posted in yet :)

i had this in mine. now deleted.

mine has been playing up for a couple of days not been able to shut down succsesfully since me hols. have to reset and go through scandisc everytime.:mad:

oh dear i think i have a virus.

i am unable to open and run nortons antivirus for more than 1% before it closes itself down.

 

HELP what do i do................WTF......

this is damn good advice!!

ive had to formatt my drive and re-install my o/s

i lost a lot of info ,luckily id backed most of it up on cd

ive had that much of a nightmare ,id just installed my new o/s and i was on messenger when i got sent another virus.

sick as a parrot jay

ive git it, apparently in february, so do i delete it or what? i do have problems with shutting down every now and again....

I'm not surprised you've got it, it's part of the standard Windows installation!

 

You may all have a virus, but deleting this file is not going to help (unless it happens to have been infected by a real virus such as W32.Efortune.31384@mm)

You could try running one of these online virus scans:

someone giving warning of a possible virus is always good ADVICE!

LOL it would not be good advice if you did not know it was a hoax though would it?After you deleted it;)

thank god all gone now.

the virus is was called bugbear@mm this is a W.32trojan virus

thankyou nortons for deleting it for me.

how to check if you have this virus is

click start

click search

click find files or folders

then type in the empty box gig.exe and search

then try bugbear

if you have any showings with these searches you can clean this if you download tools from norton.com
