Seatbelts / Door card

Ok, I'm halfway through leathering (is that a word?) the interior, due to one of the previous owners deciding that it was a good idea to "paint" all of the vinyled surfaces in the car..... It wasn't.

Anyway, when stripping down the door cards I find that where the seatbelt goes through the doorcard there is a cut in the seam to allow the seatbelt to be slid out. As I am unable to check on the car itself, what I would like to know is, is the cut supposed to be there or can I fix it and still thread the seatbelt through afterwards? Cheers

The cuts meant to be there to allow seatbelt to be thread through, you wouldn't get door card around seatbelt otherwise

You don't see gap once fitted

If you wanted to tidy it up then you would need to have the seatbelt off the car and thread it through before closing the gap for sliding seatbelt in and out of doorcard. Would just mean cutting seam in future if seatbelts ever needed replaced but no biggie.

Ok, cool. Just unable to check on the car at the moment and wasn't sure if someone in the past was being lazy!!! Thanks guys.

Now you said that, am I right in thinking theres an oval shaped plastic cover fitted on the belt that slots into this hole?

Sorry Mark, slow typing by me ;)

Cheers.
