the biggest issue here isn't NK its self, its Russia and china and what their views are, SK brought the US patriot missile system (albeit the older one) from the US, the US its self has the Patriot missile system, a proven system at taking out ballistic missiles.

 

So unless NK has a shed load of intercontinental ballistic missiles with which to fire, they will only manage to pull the trigger, i highly doubt they would hit the target.

 

The US on the other hand, have the ability to just fly over and bomb at will, not only with the B52 heavy bomber, but also with the B2 stealth bomber, they wouldn't even have to "launch" as such, but you can bet your bottom dollar that currently US nuclear subs are not far from NK.

 

It would be suicide for NK to launch, but then the country is brain washed into a "glorious death", they have pretty much nothing apart from a military as well. The new leader had the perfect opportunity to set aside indifference and actually work with the wider world for the benefit of his own people, but due to brain washing by his own father, decided instead to act like a big kid and start bullying instead.

 

Not sure they fully appreciate who they are trying to push around.

 

Unless Russia and china finally say "stop it you little shit" or "ok that's it, we back America on this one" then tension is going to be high, but i cant see the Americans backing down on this. lets just hope china prefers their economy over that of war, and Putin see the light.

Dead right Vods...... Thing is, there will be a lot of posturing and sabre rattling in the coming weeks; but when the time comes to finally get serious, China and Russia will probably do just as you suggest. Neither wants an all out war that (if everyone, including the USA, is honest) no-one is certain of winning. The Moonface Kid just wants his moment on the world stage - but even he knows it's pointless being a leader if he has no country left to lead!!

Well said Ian!! thing is the people of NK idolise the nut through either brain washing or by fear of him, pee my self laughing when he tours anywhere the soldiers/people run around waving their arms above there heads when they see him like their ass is on fire !! mainly for fear of not showing their support, dictators come and go but the legacy of their lunacy is always the same.

 

The recent moving of missiles was a public show of strength that is very, very reminiscent of the cold war days when Russia used to parade its apparent huge arsenal of missiles, rockets tanks etc. on the back of trailers for the whole world to see, in later years after the cold war ended it was revealed many of the rockets and tanks were made of wood and cardboard ! but the problem is distinguishing the false from the true, and meanwhile many shaky fingers hover over red "do not touch buttons", I for one do not always condone big powerful countries been heavy with smaller ones and the US (often with support from the UK) are guilty of this but in this case I think an assassination of him and his key government figures would be justified to secure the world peace and release the county men of his tyranny
