I have an oil leak on my 93 UK TT. The oil is dripping down onto the power steering pump from what looks like the back half of the front passenger side cam cover. Could anyone maybee verify this for me from their own personal experience of this problem. I have only recently bought my 300 and am close to throwing in the towel with the car.

Any help appreciated. Cheers John Crisp

Firstly the PS pump is on the drivers side, so I'm note sure how it can be dripped on from the passenger side cam cover! Are you sure its the PS not the aircon compressor?

Given it is the PS pump can you determine whether it is oil or steering fluid? The pump or one of its feeds often leak steering fluid. If its engine oil it might be coming from around one of the PCV valves that are about where you say the leak is coming from ( one each side of the plenum about half way back). There may be a split in the vacuum tube. But this would not generate much leakage.

Well the oil must be dripping on the air cond compressor then, it looks like a steering pump from underneath. The oil appears to be coming from behind the front cam cover at the back half or it. If I stick my hand inbetween the fan and the cover towards the gap above the air cond compressor and touch the back of the cam cover it is wet. Maybee the front cam seal is leaking.

I am gonna pull the front cam cover off tomorrow night to see where the leak is.

Cheers for the reply
