The hubby had a outstanding court fine received a letter pay it within 10 days so I did via the telephone payment line it was on the 10th day I paid it via his debit card, well received a letter today saying there is an outstanding £85 to pay rung them with the pay reference number to hand didn't get a chance to give it, the bloke on the phone had a serious attitude problem, anyhow seems that because I paid it on the 10th day they handed it to the enforcementt people the day after apparently (which is a saturday) and now they're saying he has to pay the administration fee of £85 even. Tho the fine is cleared!!

 

I need to ring the courts tomorrow and try and resolve this but surely its not right, I am going to say that the call was made on the 10th day and if they check their call logs they will see this.

Sounds like bureaucratic BS to me mate. Tell them you paid by the cut off and it is not your fault that this was not passed on sooner. Stick to your guns..

Not sure how it works but if you are given 10 days and you pay on the tenth day I dont see a problem.

Thats what i thought, when i looked at his bank statement to double check that i paid it, it hadnt cleared on the day i paid it if that makes sense but i still rang on the 10th day.

Stuck to my guns was very firm and assertive on the phone this morning and they recalled whatever is was they put out so all sorted and no more letters or calls from telephone bullies!!!

Agreed - if you paid the fine on the last day then that should be the end of it. If they had taken you to court, and you proved that the fine was paid in time, then they would have looked pretty stupid and would no doubt have lost their case....

 

It's always worth challenging these idiots as they know that the cost of any recovery - even if they win - is more than the actual amount they seek to recover!
