Hi Taff, I used to the flog the stuff but years ago so may be out of touch. now theyve taken the lead out of the gloss it seems to yellow really quickly.. ive tried loads of different brands and the same effect.. i now use eggshell which stays whiter longer but not as shiny..you could try it on with the builders, tell them theyve used cheap gear. they might send somebody round or simply say they give it a quick coat to make it liveable whilst the house is settling then its up to you. worth asking... my top tip though use eggshell.. be interested in others comments as I hate painting the skirting boards... lol

I use johnsons liquid gloss, have ueed it for years and it stays white a long time, very shiny aswelk which I like, there was a problem with dulix paint yellowing, if they have used it and can prove it with reciepts then dulux will give you your money back or vouchers to buy paint

But johnsons liquid all the time for me

Oh and jihnsons undercoat aswell, but the first coat takes nearly 2 days to dry before sanding and recoating

Im not a painter but in refurbishment ant maintenance business ... you should get at least a year warranty ... eggshell or satin dulux would last longer

Done a bit of research looks like dulux and crown have been taken to court several times and been on watchdog program for yellowing gloss paint in 2012 .Its stange how its yellowed under things put on sills it seems the sunlight keeps the paint white when depraved of light it will yellow.Think its to do with the new way modern paints are made .Some new build owners have reported yellowing gloss after only 2 weeks .

It's an ongoing problem as paint manufacturers have had to diminish the amount of VOC's in the (oil based) paints. Dulux have as has been said suffered particularly with the new regs. It is worse when applied to MDF, which your window boards may be. Especially if they haven't been sealed properly.

When I have had my house decorated, the painter used water based white for the woodwork - and as said, in satin or eggshell finish rather than gloss - and so far none of it has gone yellow!!

I believe he has used Wickes own brand paint - but I'm not 100% sure!! But back to the original question, if you've only been in for 6 months, then something it not right. I'd contact the builders and get them to come back and fix it mate!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Im a decorator never got on with crown paint either use dulux or leyland /johnsons which is an all rounder trade paint ,water based paints dont go yellow as oil based do but less durable , the problem there is not much call for gloss as well as satin/ eggshell is prefered
