Noticed that my mileage is not counting up anymore and my trip is stuck on 0000....any ideas what this could be ? The clocks i'm thinking as my speedo is still working okay.

Erm.......one of Chris's visits to my house was to fix this :whistling: I migrated over a motor and believed we cured it, the motor removed was much stiffer so put this down as the culprit, there is a thread on it somewhere Dean.

Sure Chris will come on and shed more light on the subject :cool3:.

I'm thinking about pulling the clocks and fitting other ones as the speedo is quite erattic when using other things electrical in the car i.e the horn or flashing the lights....I suspect this has something to do with the convertor though... Am I right in thinking I do not need a convertor if I install UK or US clocks

Ah bloody hell I thought that was cured. As Andy said we managed to replace the motor as the old motor had siezed. Although I never had any issue with the horn or flashing the lights etc.

It may well be an electrical connection, especially if the speedo is erratic and so not the same problem we fixed before. As in the total supply has gone, rather than the motor its self.

I spoke to Jeff @ zedworld about this and he said he had seen one or two S4 cars with a similar issue, suprising considering the number of S4 cars. He was going to have a look into seeing if the motor was the same fitted to all models which would make finding a replacement alot easier

The issue you might have with UK and US clocks is that the car is S4 and so has S4 clocks, thinking about it I would assume that some late US models would have had S4 clocks, but certainly not UK as they would have stopped at S2.

This is a common problem....!!

It's not unusual for the odometer to stop working mid-journey (say 50 miles into a trip) and just stick until the next day..... Upon which normal operation will resume until the next long journey - wherein it might stick again (say) 50 miles into a long journey!! And it happens to both the regular odo and the trip odo simultaneously!!

There is a fix for it - I remember a link to it on the Aussie or US forums somewhere.....

.....Failing that fit a new odometer and trip clock!

I'd take yours out and then just make sure all the screws are nipped up tight, you have probably a poor contact somewhere.

This is S4 :cool3:.

I wouldn't put that one in mine tho, looks like it has been used as a Rotweillers rape toy

LOL - it sure does Dean..... But you could just buy a set of rough clocks like that and simply transplant the odometer and trip clock from it into your own dash!!

It does but your only buying for the spares, it's always invaluable to have as you can eliminate and swap many parts at will and S4 ones are not common .

EDIT : I got one I could of put straight into the car for less than £50.00 delivered from Japan so this one is a touch pricey for it's condition, about £45.00 delivered would be a about right but you don't want any import tax on top as that'd be a killer !!
