Well to sum it up I have 10 years no claims 3 points and for a 1.4 206HDi Last year have paid £1000 outright with my partener on the policy, se uses the car as I have a co car, Last year it was a nightmare everyone was asking between £1000-£3000 for the same details and car.

So we paid the £1000 to Admiral so we did not incur interest charges on monthly payments and today received our renewal of £1010 ????? Well i thought it would be due to claims etc.... but still decided to look into quotes.

On the first comparison web page I was shocked that the same details brought up £438 Fully comp. Has insurance come down as all othe quotes were around the same sum.

Or is it that i have now reached the coffin dodger era?? (34)

It depends, if the lowest quote was 1st Central - avoid them like the plague!

But yes I have noticed that my quote for trade insurance has gone down by a ton so maybe!

Hi mate,

It was with ESURE which I was quite surprised, Hastings was only £50 dearer.

I'm only paying £210 on my 206 gti and I'm 27. What's wrong with 1st central that's who I with and s far so good?

I have found that if you run it through a comparison site then the cheapest price usually cannot be beat anywhere and is the one to go with.

I have found Liverpool Victoria have been good of late, great and yes cheaper than the year before with their renewals. Also, I have found that if a renewal is £450.00 say, you can cancel that and then go with the same company online for £425.00 !!

Until you need to claim

Na I will just scrap it than claim or fix 90% of it myself. As long as its covered for the road then job done :)

That equality thing has kicked in now hasn't it. So us careful girlies have to pay extra for you naughty boys!!

I think insurance went down towards the end of last year. When I insured the SLK in autumn 2011 I struggled to get covered for under £500 - but this time plenty of good companies were offering premiums of under £400..... With decent policies too; Esure were the cheapest and their cover was very good - but I went with Sainsbury's premier all singing all dancing option for only a tenner more!!

But has it really made a difference? Unless you comparing insurance for both men and women under 25 (or maybe 30); in my experience, like for like car insurance was never cheaper for women once over "that" age where [young] men are considered a higher risk.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The question should really be how were you charged as much as £1k Insurance for a 1.4 206HDi at 34 yrs old with 10yrs NCB and 3 points ?!

It should never have been more than a few hundred. Thats a lot more than most of us of similar age pay for insurance on a 300zx TT.

Very true - by the time I had read all the other posts I had forgotten about that!!!

No, actually, once you get to my vast age ( twenty tenty tenty ish) I think it was only about 1% or summat. Makes a difference for girlies under 25.

1k was the very cheapest and I shopped around for two days and racked up a right phone bill. I hate paying for car insurance as it is. The zed I'm only paying £183 so very happy with that.

Cant understand how you were paying £1k insurance for a 1.4 206 (Ins group 11) , but £183 for the Z (Ins group 20) ? , or how you accepted that this made sense at the time.

Its good that you've found cheaper quotes this year, but it certainly sounds more like you were ripped off last year rather than there having been an insurance drop this year.

The difference was that the zed is on classic insurance and the pug isn't. No one and I mean no one was under 1k tried all the insurance companies comparison sites, phoning direct etc....

Just glad it's cheaper now bearing in mind it's two people on the policy not just me.
