Firstly, welcome to the forum.

Maybe worth pulling fuses from the panel in the drivers footwell so as to isolate the circuit.

Sounds like a possible targa drain leak maybe causing a short.

The clock and the heater screen is part of the position 1 on the ignition key ( accessories) and this is controlled by the ignition switch, it maybe a problem there or in the fusebox as mentioned above.

Remember even a fully charged 80 amp battery can not substain that long with an accessory circuit still on, even a 1 amp drain will of course only give 80 hours but well before that it will be too flat to start the engine, it could even be a larger drain than that, get a clamp on amp meter on the battery lead.

The drain tubes for the roof panels. the front ones run through tubes down the windscreen pillars and behind the electrics then out through the sill, these can become blocked or leaks and cause electrics to go strange. use some curtain wire to check tubes are clear, and check the fuse panel in the drivers foot well behind it if you can as well. look for any brown watery signs or the green corrosion on the terminals. hope this helps

i removed the panel to get at fuse box but not sure if i am seeing the right thing, long plastic box thing but cant see how to get at fuses.you will be thinking i am a bit thick but your replies are very helpfull.

As you sit in the car, your right foot as it sits on the accelerator, move your foot further to the right, theres a panel there on the side, remove this and inside are fuses/relays.

smithy

As above, in the location Smithy mentioned, but the relays are behind the fuse board, so need the whole panel off to gain access. The drivers side targa drain tube runs from the roof, down the A pillar and behind the fuseboard to exit at the bottom of the wing. If the tube has shrunk or the drain connection has rotted then water from the tube will empty itself into the electrics.

Search for targa drain tube, there are plenty of related posts.
