Have an odyssey dry cell battery on the Z. Great in summer, plenty of kick to start and even my monster electric fan didnt faze it and it stays on for ages when i leave the car in the hot weather. But, now its winter and the cars not getting used, it dies in 2 weeks. Thats to be expected. Just wondering if i need a specific charger/conditioner for this type of battery or just a normal one. Could just disconnect it but would rather leave it in the car on charge then the alarm etc is still active and the cars always ready to role if the mood takes me.

Any advice welcome.

cheers

Cheers for that mate. And will that fully charge it from flat? Sorry if these seem like obvious questions but electronics aren't my thing.

Thanks

Danny

yeah most of the chargers have the Trickle and Fast charge option .... Long as u dont get a all singing and dancing charger that charges batteries with in 30 mins/1hr u be fine

c-tec conditoner/ chargers are what we put on a lot of the yank cars we do as they monitor the bat switch on and off when needed automatically so not over charging bat . Just check out what amphere your bat is and get the correct variant for that bat. they will also charge from flat.

you want to use a ctek charger for dry cell batteries

I use one for my optima yellow top, works great and also has the battery recond function which is good for all other lead batteries

What i really like on the ctek is

1/you can never ark them out

2/you can leave connected to your leads using the constant 12volt supply while removing the battery and therefore lose no memory on your head unit or other electrics

A TRICKLE CHARGER WILL DAMAGE A DRY CELL !! .........

Once a battery has reached its optimum charge levels, a trickle charger will simply send in a level of charge for a certain amount of time and then switch itself off, continually repeating the process until it is removed from the battery. This way of battery charging can potentially over charge the battery, causing it to dry out, or even start to gas, and ultimately kill the battery

CTEK’s smart chargers move into a pulse maintenance mode once the battery is fully charged. Rather than sending in a charge and estimating the batteries needs, a CTEK charger will stay in constant communication with the battery, reacting and charging only when it is needed.

In pulse maintenance mode, the battery will be allowed to naturally self discharge to a certain level before being fully charged once again. Not only does this form of battery charging avoid the risk of overcharging but, as the battery is being exercised as it be would during normal use, the lifespan of the battery is extended considerably.
